Human Sexuality

The United Methodist Church affirms “that sexuality is God’s good gift to all persons” in the denomination’s Social Principles. At the 2016 General Conference, the Council of Bishops proposed that a commission review every paragraph of the Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality.

In February 2019, delegates to the Special Session of General Conference voted to uphold the church’s statements about homosexuality, same-sex marriage and the ordination of LGBTQ persons. We invite you to learn more about this topic.
